• Environmental Investigations:
  Failure Analysis
  In a case of engine failure, investigation revealed two things: 1) that the engine had suffered from on-going problems; and 2) that the ultimate failure was caused by a person who was not a member of the crew. Thus, the attempt of the vessel owners to have this deemed a covered peril under Inch Maree was disallowed.
  Another engine failure submitted to the insurance company for coverage of hull damage showed that the builder had failed to provide for proper ventilation in the engine spaces. The result was that the insurance company first paid the claimant, then sued the engine builder through one of its distributors..…successfully……and recovered $60,000. see pictures
